How to fix vcbMounter error 'The session is not authenticated '

Issue:

While attempting a VCB Backup you receive one or more of the following error messages

 

vCenter Error

The Session is not authenticated

 

 

 

vcbMounter Error

Snapshot creation failed: The session is not authenticated.

 

Cause:

The vmware authentication service on the ESX host is not responding.

 

 

Solution:

Restart the vmware authentication service from the ESX console

 

service vmware-vmkauthd restart
